Amit Pimpale & Associates
Amit is a Principal of Amit Pimpale & Associates who is an Architect & Urban Designer. Having worked in the UK and in India, he brings wide experience of large scale strategic Masterplanning, integrated mixed-use developments, inner-city regeneration, high quality Urban Design combined with Sustainable Urbanism, ‘place-making’ principles participatory design approach.
He studied Architecture at Pune University in India where he topped the B. Arch. program throughout five years. He is a recipient of 'International Graduate Scholarship' given by London Metropolitan University where he did his Masters in Urban Design & Regeneration.
Prior to going to UK, he worked with his ‘mentor’ Madhav Joshi, one of the leading Architects in India. Whilst working with Madhav Joshi closely, Amit honed his key design skills & gained exposure of urbanism. Here, he worked on variety of Architectural projects including National Architectural Award winning buildings.
International Experience :
On completion of Post Graduation, Amit became a part of John Thompson & Partners (JTP), a leading Urban Design & Community Planning practice in London that has pioneered the approach of community-led urbanism in the UK. There, he gained substantial experience of working on variety of projects for high profile Government bodies as well as for private developers. He played a key role in some of the prestigious mixed-use Masterplans, complex Regeneration schemes, Vision making proposals & Strategic Area Development Frameworks. These included projects within London Olympics 2012 Legacy Masterplan, UK Government’s Housing Market Renewal Program & several Urban Design, Regeneration schemes for private sector clients. He combined his innovative Urban Design skills with collaborative ‘charrette’ based approach building upon Principles of Sustainability & ‘Place-making’.
Experience in India :
He returned to India with a humble objective to contribute positively in shaping the dynamic Urban Landscape of the country. On his return, he worked with TATA Realty & Infrastructure Ltd., a Real Estate arm of high profile TATA Group. In his multidisciplinary role, Mr. Amit helped them to set up the Architectural & Planning division as well as worked on SEZ, Townships, high-rise residential & retail schemes. To ensure the high quality of design in every project, he also prepared holistic Design Guidelines. Translating the ethos & values of TATA Group, he helped to conceptualize the designs of many of their current key developments.
Being sensitive towards quality of the built environment, he then decided to set up his own practice to design buildings & masterplans in more conscious, creative & contextual way & where he can apply his knowledge & experience.
In all of his projects, he uses his strong graphical skills that helps to illustrate the ‘Place-making’ vision of the development bringing the three dimensional perspective. His profile was published in CABE’s (UK Government’s Architectural body) publication intending to create design awareness in the UK. His articles and illustrations on Urban Design and Architecture have been published in many International, Indian as well as Regional publications.
Amit is involved in the academics as a visiting faculty in the Architecture College. He often gets invited for academic juries by several Planning & Architectural Institutes in India.
